All creatures — animal or plant — all life forms are solar energy cells; that’s why almost all of us “go to sleep” each night, when the Sun’s rays are either reflected against the opposite side of the earth from the side we’re on, or life energy waves (perceived from one perspective out of an infinity of perspectives as the sun’s rays) stream past the side of earth we are on, while we rest & recuperate in Mother Earth’s shadow.
We’re little solar cells. When what is perceived to be our source of power is not visible from where we are on Earth, we “go to sleep” – to “recharge” ourselves. The cycle of night (re-charge) followed by day (dis-charge) is intrinsic to nature.
Like any good diaphragm, this membrane – the wave upon which we surf our lives – will play out eventually in what is perceived by us as our “death”. A recently heard NPR broadcast explored the fact that the total number of heartbeats in a life is the same, regardless of specie.
