"And currently, from what man knows of life, it is thought to be an evolutionary process for the training of the Soul. Moreover, it is written:
"I put before you life and death,
The blessing and the curse.
Therefore, choose life."
So in the matter of choice, anything that is for life is a blessing. Anything against life is a curse."
From a 1975 letter from
a mother to her adult son
I thought this was a most prescient and interesting letter, especially for the time it was written. It could have been written by any number of new age gurus — names like Eckhart Tolle, Gary Zukav, Neil Donald Walsch, Carolyn Myss — any of them, and many more unknown to me could have written of similar spiritual concepts, but typically not much before 1988, or so. This letter shows the memes were out there in the mid-1970s, way before the mass adoptation of the New Age concepts and the advance of the afore-mentioned authors’ books to the NY Times best seller list.
